Do you know what kind of style you want to achieve in your space? Is it industrial, modern, traditional, natural, or something totally new? Have you decided what colour you want your new counter to to be? There are a lot of details to consider, so let us help you break down the process for choosing a new granite or quartz countertop.
Deciding whether to use granite, quartz, or a combination of the two is a key step in selecting your countertop. Factors like budget, maintenance, colour range, and pattern play a role in selecting a granite or quartz counter. Our granite comes in five price ranges: CATEGORY I, II, III, IV, and V. The cost per square foot varies greatly by category. For example. CAT V granite is twice as expensive as CAT I, so there will be something to suit your budget. We want you to be able to make your design dreams come true.
When thinking about the colour of your new countertop or surface, determine whether you want the surface to make a strong visual statement or provide a more neutral backdrop. We recommend you take some time to browse our photo galleries to help you narrow down your colour preferences, and to see how different coloured stones work with different cabinets and kitchen designs. Visit our showroom in Strathroy, where you can take your time browsing hundreds of stunning granite and quartz selections, from sample pieces, to full slabs, to remnants. A walk-through of our warehouse is a great place to start narrowing down your preferred colours and designs. Whether you’re looking for a large kitchen counter top, a small vanity replacement, or a unique custom design, Progressive Countertop is sure to carry a stone that will suit your vision.
Although Progressive Countertop focuses primarily on kitchen countertops and bathroom vanities, we also pride ourselves on the custom, commercial and specialty projects we have finished. Some examples of our commercial work include medical clinics and offices, arenas and concert venues, hotels, restaurants, cocktail bars and more. Our custom residential work has featured home bars, laundry rooms, BBQ areas, pool cabanas, hot tub surroundings, waterfall countertop edges (water tight epoxy seal & precision cut at 45° for a snug fit), fireplaces, and other unique spaces.
Adding a textured finish to your counter top is also an option when purchasing a natural granite or quartz countertop surface from Progressive Countertop. A polished surface will create a glossy, reflective finish, while a leathered texture will create a soft, matte finish and a depth you can feel to the touch. To achieve an in-between look, a honed surface adds character without the textured depth of a leathered finish. Visit one of our showrooms in Strathroy or London to speak with a designer about your texture options.
The edge profile you choose can add subtle or bold character to your space depending on your selection. A simple, traditional look can be achieved with an “ogee” edge, or a bold and natural look with a “chiseled” edge. At Progressive Countertop we have eight standard edge profiles available for quartz or granite counter tops, and two upgraded edge profiles also available. Our Cambria® Quartz products have additional standard edges with several more upgrades available for certain cuts and measurements. It’s best to consult with a designer as some stones work better than others to accommodate certain profiles. Click here to browse our edge profile guide.

SINKS
Selecting the right style for your sink is another important decision to make when selecting your new granite surface. There are many style and function options when choosing the sink that will complement your new counter top surface: materials include stainless steel, cast iron, or composite, and styles include vessel, single bowl, double bowl, farm house, top mount or under mount. To help you select the right sink to go with your new quartz or granite countertop, browse through our PHOTO GALLERY or discuss it with one of our Progressive Countertop designers during your consultation.
REMNANTS
If you have a small granite project such as a bathroom vanity or bar top, a remnant piece may be ideal for you! At different times of the year our warehouse in Strathroy will have some left over and odd shaped pieces of natural granite and gorgeous quartz – one of them might be perfect for your project! Once a year, each spring, we gather these all together in our yard and mark them down to clear out our space for new product. The Remnant Yard is outdoors so please be mindful of the weather!
